Hosted by Metaterra and held at Near East University, the panel titled “Blockchain and the Economy: Trust, Transparency, and Growth in the Digital Age” brought together global leaders in the blockchain industry. The event explored topics such as the transformation blockchain technology brings to economic systems and the future of digital trust. Ersin Tatar, President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, delivered the opening speech.
Highlighting the strategic importance of digital transformation for the country’s economy, President Tatar emphasized Metaterra’s international vision, which united participants from three continents, and underlined the nation’s potential for digital transformation. He noted that the event strengthened the island’s position in the global financial ecosystem and expressed his gratitude to Hakan Törehan.

Hakan Törehan, who has led numerous innovations across Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean through projects under Miracle Group and Metaterra, and who has played a key role in the development of the regional blockchain ecosystem, also spoke at the panel.
Drawing attention to his international experience in fintech and blockchain, Törehan stated that blockchain is not merely a technological revolution but also a redefinition of trust and financial independence, adding:
“Northern Cyprus has the potential to become one of the centers of this transformation.”
The event, organized in partnership with Metaterra and supporting Northern Cyprus’s ambition to become a regional hub for digital finance and blockchain, hosted several international figures including Douglas Anderson, Stephen Moore, Paul Randall, John Beyer, and Fernando Vildósola. The participants shared insights on the opportunities blockchain offers to emerging markets and the future of next-generation financial systems.
